Updated to OS X El Capitan, and now my name & password no longer works??

I just purchased a iMac late 2008 and Macbook Pro late 2008 from a family friend.  When I received the computers, they were both wiped clean.  I was able to change the Login to the name I desired, and the password as well.  I was also able to attach my iCloud account to both computers.  After doing so, I decided to update to OS X El Capitan through the App Store.  After doing this, I cannot get past the login screen.  At the login screen, it displays the user as “Other…” and when you click on “Other…” it then asks me for a Name and password.  When I enter in the login I had changed the computer to when I got them, it implies the login info is incorrect.  I do not know what to do as I have never had any other logins and password as the one I created 2days ago when I received them. There is nothing on the computers, as they were completely wiped when I purchased them.  I am not worried about losing any files or anything. Since I just bought them and there was nothing on them anyway, I just obviously want to be able to use them.  I was excited to start setting them up and now I am stuck at the login screen. Please help
