Hopefully someone can help me out with this. I’ve got a 2011 MBP (i7, 4GB ram, 330M) and since I updated to El Capitan (now on 10.11.2) my external display will no longer work. I’m using an HDMI to MiniPort cable and which was working before the update. I’m trying to connect to a 720p TV, and have also tried to connect it to my 28″ 1080p ASUS monitor which I normally use for my Windows desktop. Neither worked. My MacBook’s display flickers for a moment when I connect it, and then nothing. I was also not able to connect it to my projector via VGA to USB adapter until I found the latest update on the adapter’s website, so at least that display has been solved. I have tried the ‘detect display’ button under system preferences, no luck.
