After updating to El Capitan, my macbook pro (mid 2010) has had nothing but problems.
My computer has been overheating and crashing/rebooting a numerous amount of times since updating, under the same conditions as Yosemite.
Yesterday the computer crashed and would not reboot. It would load to 3/4 of the gray status bar and go black. I had to use internet recovery to erase and re-install El Capitan. Luckily I keep backups with time machine.
After reinstalling, the computer still overheats and crashes. The bottom left of the computer heats up all the time regardless of proper ventilation. Sitting flat on a desk will cause the computer to run extremely hot, even when I’m only surfing the web.
I’ve tried resetting the NVRAM but that didn’t help.
This needs to be fixed.
