Final Cut Pro X (10.2.2) y El Capitán (10.11.1)

Saludos.

Whenever I try to check iCloud mail on my iMac I get the message:  “iCloud has stopped Responding”  Same thing when I tried accepting an invitation to join a calendar.  Connects fine from my iPhone.  Details gives:

    ERROR

    The operation is insecure.

   Unknown

I gave submitted the results to Apple several times.

Any insights out there?

iMac is responding slowly after upgraded to os x el capitan

My iMac is responding slowly when going for application to application or when just browsing on the internet.  The beach ball is appearing more often I think since I upgraded to OS XEL Capitan and my letters are lagging when typing at times.  I am running  OS X EL Capitan 10.11.1.  I have examined my browser Extensions, looked for adware, check to see if my disk and permissions need to be repaired.  In addition, I have 740 GB free storage space.  Below is my EtreCheck report.

EtreCheck version: 2.6.1 (221)

iMovie 9.0.9 on OS X El Capitan – Invalid Signature

$

I am trying to run iMovie 9.0.9 on an iMac (Retina 5k, 27-inch, Late 2015), running OS X El Capitan (10.11), but it crashes every time I click the “Titles” tab (link to picture – (https://gyazo.com/9c2c618d84d6817a06fc6a366024942f). I need help figuring out where the issue stems from. I will post a full EtreCheck log of what’s been happening, but I have a couple of theories of why this is happening, and what I’ve attempted so far:

1. The change of the default system font in El Capitan

– I reverted back to the old system font using this site: https://github.com/schreiberstein/lucidagrandeelcapitan

– After a restart, the system font was changed, but it had no effect on the crashing

– I assumed that the addition of the old system font might have fixed a UI error in the old version of iMovie, but it had no effect

2. Methods of installation

– You will see in the EtreCheck report that some launch daemons have no signature, and that com.apple.iMovieApp.72992 specifically has an invalid signature

– I originally installed iMovie 9.0.9 on the new iMac by dragging the application from an external drive to the applications folder

– After it failed, I reinstalled it by installing from the original iLife ’11 CD I had

– It still crashed on 9.0, so I downloaded the 9.0.9 patch from Apple

– It still crashed regardless of installing from a CD as opposed to simply copying the app from an external drive

3. Downgrading OS X El Capitan to OS X Yosemite or OS X Lion

– iMovie 9.0.9 DOES work on Yosemite, albeit fairly slow in comparison to Lion since it’s not optimized for that version of OS X

– If I could downgrade to either OS, I’d be able to run iMovie 9.0.9 without crashing, and there’s a chance that the application could run better on new hardware (but again, Apple no longer supports 9.0.9 and prior, so optimization for newer hardware is out of the question)

– I have Time Machine backups of Lion and Yosemite, but the new iMac boots from El Captian, and I don’t have any versions of Lion or Yosemite in my previous iTunes purchases that I could download for booting

– I’m also hesitant to do this since I’ve never had to fully restore a Mac, and some newer applications wouldn’t be able to run on older OS X

4. Why do you still use iMovie 9.0.9?

– iMovie 9.0.9 has a critical feature that iMovie 10.0.8 lacks: title fade parameters

– I addressed this issue in a previous post (Can’t Change Title Fades – iMovie 10.0.8), but no one has come across it or offered feedback

– I feel that this is a relatively simple feature to add, and it has been overlooked

5. Updating

– I am considering updating to OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 and the latest version of the new iMovie to see if any of the above issues can be solved by doing that

– I’m one of those people who doesn’t like to update immediately, so I will hold off on updating if there is a simpler solution

So, that’s what I’ve tried so far. Here’s the full EtreCheck report while iMovie 9.0.9 is running:

Problem with Time Machine after upgrading to El Capitan

$

I recently upgraded to El Capitan on my iMac. Several days of emails disappeared immediately after the upgrade so I used Time Machine to try to find those emails by going back to the days in question. I thought I was just dealing with Mail but whatever I did resulted in the entire Desktop and the hard drive becoming a part of each of the folders on my Desktop — after I reverted back to earlier today via Time Machine If I try to separate out the files from the folders, create a new folder and throw out the old one, the result is that the entire desktop goes out as well. Not sure what to do to just have the files in the folders.

My wife shares the iMac with me and has a separate desktop. Fortunately hers did not change.

Thanks.

Mac won’t start after update to El Capitan

Hi,

i have problems with my iMac, 21,5 inch, Mid 2010. After updating to OS X 10.11. my Mac won’t start anymore. First i thought, my hard drive was broken, so i changed it and installed OS X  from my Time Machine backup, but then i had the same problem again, that my Mac won’t start again. So i deleted my hard drive again and installed OS X again, without my Time Machine backup. When the installation of OS X was finished, my Mac started normally and worked without problems. But on the last weekend, when 10.11.1 comes out, i installed it and then there was my problem again, my Mac freezes at the Apple Bootscreen and nothing happened. So, i installed OS X again. After that my Mac works again. But today, as i started my Mac, my problem was back and i was forced again, to reinstall OS X again. At the moment, my iMac works again, but i don’t know if it will start again tomorrow. And, after the many reinstallation’s of OS X, my Mac is now identified as an iMac 21,5 inch Late 2009. This is very strange…

How can i fix this problem? I also have a Macbook Late 2009 and there were no problems when i updated to El Capitan.

Thanks and greetings

Greyed out volume icon on El Capitan, MBP Mid 2010 15”

Dear all,

I have a Mid 2010 MBP 15” with El Capitan OS. Recently, I had plugged my headphones, listening to music and when I unplugged them the volume icon was greyed out with no sound from the speakers. I tried the typical suggestions and the problem was fixed.

Yesterday, I had the exact same situation but the problem cannot be fixed. More specifically, yesterday I had plugged my headphones, playing some youtube videos from Safari and I unplugged the headphones. When I unplugged them, the volume icon was greyed out and no sound was coming from the speakers.

At the sound preferences, and when the headphones are unplugged, there is no internal speakers indication. Only digital out.

I have tried E V E R Y T H I N G.

  • Plugging – unplugging headphones. When there is nothing playing. When there is music playing. When I change the volume.
  • Blowing in the jack port
  • Deleting files in the /Library/Preferences/Audio, /Library/Preferences
  • Deleting the /Library/Audio folder
  • Killing the coreaudiod process
  • Clean install of El Capitan

I did all the above, but not luck. When I unplug the headphones there is no speakers.

What is strange is that when the computer starts, the chime sound is sounded normal. From the speakers! Also, there are these times when I unplug the headphones where the red light is not coming from the audio output port. Also, there are these times where when I unplug and plug again the headphones, I have no volume control for the headphones as well!

Any one can help? Currently I’m in Finland (Tampere) and there is no Apple store here.

In addition, I attach two images from the system report and the audio entry

Quicktime 7 Pro – Rotated Videos go Black in El Capitan

$

Hi all,

I’ve seen a few posts about this with no real solution. It affects various transforms to MOV files generated by Quicktime 7 Pro. If you apply a rotation, or a mask, or some other AV transforms the video turns black. This doesn’t affect newly generated videos eg from iPhone 6S Plus, but affects all previously generated videos. Does anyone know of a work around?

I realise QTX is meant to “replace” QT7, but there is nothing to replace the functionality QT7 Pro and QT7 Pro is still live and available to purchase from apple.com so should at least work with the current version of OS X.

Thanks!

El Capitan 10.11.1 Reboot fails after installing on iMac

Reboot fails after installing El Capitan 10.11.1 on 27″ iMac (mid 2011) which had already been updated to 10.11, I’ve tried rebooting holding down shift, Command and R, with Time Machine networked and switched on etc., repeatedly. Hard disk gives a couple of whirrs and then switches off.

Machine had extended Applecare and had a hard disk and mouse replaced near the end of the extended warranty (the replaced mouse failed as did a replacement for that – no more Apple mice!)

Apple Service advise me that I face $100 minimum service fee to ‘look at the problem’.

Machine useless … have another iMac with El Capitan 10.11 with it’s inherent problems and certainly won’t be upgrading to 10.11.1

Background Task Toolbar Distortion on FCPX 10.2.2 El Capitan

Anyone else having graphic distortion in their background task/render box in FCPX 10.2.2. running El Cap 10.11.1? Never seen this before; its yellow/green/red lines in the toolbox.

I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling FCPX; this did not resolve my issue. I have a new Macbook Pro 15 inch retina display, with 16 gb ram and 2gb dedicated graphics card. It is not the display; its only in this toolbox.

Also my fans seem to go crazy while rendering/exporting out–which I know to some extent is normal but I’m not sure this is; SMC reset seemed to temporarily fix this issue AS WELL AS the distortion in the background task bar, but now the problem has returned again. I’m puzzled as to what is causing it; this is my first mac laptop but I have owned iMacs for years.

Any one who has seen this or has any suggestions please let me know!

I’ve been unable to download Yosemite and now El Capitan to my iMac.  Is this due to system limitations or is there a way to successfully complete the download?
